Loudoun’s First Charter School Opens in Middleburg

On August 4th,Loudoun County’s first charter school officially opened its doors  marking the beginning of a new chapter in the history of Loudoun County’s schools. Although charter schools have opened in the District of Columbia and Maryland – which currently has 54 charter schools – the movement has been much slower to take hold in Virginia.  In fact, until Middleburg opened, Virginia  had only 6 charter schools and none in the Northern Virginia region.

Once again, Loudoun County is leading the education innovation revolution and paving the way for other schools in the Commonwealth.  Congratulations to the Middleburg Community Charter School.
