Press Release: Loudoun Chamber thanks Governor Spanberger for the budget amendment that will make Oak Hill in Aldie a State Park

Leesburg, VA — Loudoun Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Tony Howard applauded Governor Abigail Spanberger for amending Virginia’s budget plan to establish Oak Hill as the Commonwealth’s newest State Park.

“The Governor’s leadership demonstrates a commitment to preserving one of Virginia’s most significant historic landmarks while creating a lasting economic, tourism, and outdoor recreation asset that will serve generations to come,” said Howard

The Governor’s amendment keeps plans on track to establish Oak Hill as a state park through the innovative public-private partnership developed to acquire and operate the property.

“Making Oak Hill a state park is a once-in-a-lifetime chance to protect an irreplaceable part of our country’s history while creating a world-class destination that will strengthen Virginia’s economy and culture. We are grateful for the Governor’s leadership in ensuring this opportunity remains alive,” said Howard.

Howard added that the Chamber urges every member of the Virginia General Assembly to support Governor Spanberger’s budget amendment, and to oppose any effort to remove or weaken it, when it comes before the legislature.

“The Loudoun Chamber opposes any effort to jeopardize this unprecedented opportunity to preserve the home of President James Monroe, protect more than 1,200 acres of historic and environmentally significant land, expand Virginia’s award-winning state park system, and generate new tourism and economic activity for Loudoun and Virginia,” Howard said.
