1.  Tell us your story of how your business evolved into what it is today.

Golden Health Holistics is a holistic wellness center, founded in Sterling by husband and wife team, Melvin and Elsa. In 2015, Melvin and Elsa eagerly cultivated a forward-thinking wellness center, where holistic healing and nutrition therapy pioneered the way in the Loudoun community for optimizing your wellness naturally.

We use evidence based functional lab testing to help identify underlying root causes of many different health issues and work with you to root out what that hidden condition might be to improve your quality of life.

Each visit with Elsa is personal and meaningful. Clients know that they can schedule time with a practitioner who will genuinely listen to their concerns and fears and reassure them that there is a path to healing.

We also have an open-door policy. Clients can walk in any time of the day to chat with us and receive assistance picking out their supplements. We make every experience a personalized one. And that’s one of the best parts about having a small business. Each client experience is an opportunity for us to build and expand on that bond.

But not only does that help us expand our relationship with our clients, but it also helps us expand our business. We are fortunate to have these personal relationships, because they teach us how we can grow and expand based on their specific needs. Each client case is unique to that one person, and we recognize that! That’s why we take the time to research and study alternative or new protocols, tests and supplements that are relevant to their individual condition.

Our passion here, is to build a community of holistic health seekers who are dedicated to committing to their own whole-body wellness. We want everyone who comes through our doors to leave with one more piece of knowledge than they came in with, so that they can successfully be their own health advocate.

2.  What would it mean to you and your company to win a Small Business Award?

At the end of the day, we are so thankful that the Loudoun community nominated us for this award. It validates our devotion to holistic healing and reassures us that we are helping to change people’s lives. Hearing somebody who thought that daily pain would be their lifelong struggle say, “This is the first time that I haven’t had pain in 25 years,” is why we do what we do. The changes that we get to see in people are life altering-for the client, but also for us.

3.  What is the smallest thing that has made the largest impact on your business?

The smallest thing that has had the biggest impact on our business is simply getting to know people. Investing in each client’s life, story- simply knowing their name makes all the difference. Clients feel a personal connection when they walk through our door. They know that we know them, their families, and their life- and that we genuinely care about what they have to say. Clients feel that they can walk into a space that feels like home, with people they trust to support, advocate and encourage them.

4.  Who is the one person that has influenced you the most in your career?

My father who practices Chinese Medicine in Hong Kong.

5.  What is your favorite thing about running a business in Loudoun County?

Helping to improve people’s well-being and helping them feel better. We love that we can give people hope.

6.  How do you see your business evolving in the next 10 years?

We hope that we will be able to reach more people and that more people will recognize the importance of nutritional therapy, either through supplementation or food.

7.  If you’re not in the office where can we find you/what is another passion you have?

My favorite thing to do outside of work is to cook! I love looking for different nutrient dense recipes that are also delicious!

8.  What did you want to be when you grew up as a child? / What was a childhood dream that you had?

I always dreamed of being a flight attendant, so I could always travel around the world.

9.  If you have 24-hours off, and your family was out of town, what would you do?

On a day by myself, I would use it to treat myself to some good old relaxation. An Epsom salt bath, meditation or in the sauna is where you’ll find me!

10.  What is one book that you would recommend everyone read?

The newest book that I’m reading right now, which is The Anti-Anxiety Food Solution by Trudy Scott. It touches on how you can address mental health through nutritional therapy.

Congratulations to the whole team at Golden Health Holistics! Good luck at the Small Business Awards this year.
