Diversity & Development:  Ensuring Equity & Business Opportunity

The Black Business Empowerment Committee is delighted to welcome Deputy D.C. Mayor for Planning and Economic Development John Falcicchio.  He will discuss strategies to enhance equity and make economic prosperity more inclusive. Strategies include efforts to increase access to development opportunities for entities or organizations that are owned or majority controlled by individuals determined to be part of a socially disadvantaged population.

John Falcicchhio is D.C. Mayor, Muriel Bowser’s deputy mayor for planning and economic development. Falcicchio has been one of the mayor’s closest confidantes throughout her political career, first joining her administration as transition director six years ago. While Mr. Falcicchio serves dually as Chief of Staff and Interim Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development, Karuna Seshasai, currently serving as Deputy General Counsel to the Mayor, will take on additional duties as Special Assistant to the Mayor.
