Ambassador Spotlight 2026: Kim Ruiz
Thank you to Kim Ruiz, Co-founder and Life & Health Insurance Broker at Fambuli Insurance Services, for your service on the Chamber’s Ambassadors Council!
What inspired you to become a Loudoun Chamber Ambassador Council Member, and what does the role mean to you?
I love getting to know all the new businesses in the Loudoun Chamber. As an entrepreneur, it’s so cool being able to hear their stories and the passion around what they do.
As an Ambassador, I love being able to share what I learned during my networking journey and help to connect the new members with potential referral partners or clients in the community.
How does your business or organization contribute to the Loudoun County community?
Professionally, we help protect small businesses and their owners with health and life insurance for themselves, their families, and/or employees.
On a volunteer basis, I am also a Certified Tourism Ambassador with Visit Loudoun and love to promote Loudoun-based businesses through my social media and networking connections.
What is one memorable connection, moment, or experience you’ve had through the Loudoun Chamber?
Hosting our ribbon-cutting when we first joined the Chamber.
This was important for us because Fambuli Insurance Services marked a big milestone in our business when Cameron and I joined our two agencies together. It meant so much to have so many Chamber Ambassadors join us for this momentous event, even when we didn’t even know most of the Ambassadors prior to that event.
What advice would you give to someone looking to intentionally grow their professional network in Loudoun County?
Get involved. The Chamber works if you work it. The biggest piece of advice is that networking isn’t something that happens overnight.
Excellent quality referrals come from trust and relationships, which take time to build. However, the more you show up and help others, the quicker relationships grow deeper.
What Loudoun Chamber event or program do you never miss, and why does it stand out to you?
The monthly Business@Breakfast. It’s a terrific way to reconnect with friends and business partners and a great way to meet a lot of new people in a short period of time.
How has serving as an Ambassador Council Member helped you grow as a leader—both professionally and personally?
Serving as an Ambassador has pushed me to become more intentional in how I show up for others.
Professionally, it’s strengthened my ability to build genuine relationships, ask better questions, and truly understand what people need so I can connect them to the right opportunities. It’s also helped me sharpen my communication and leadership skills by consistently being able to guide and support new members as they get plugged into the Chamber.
Personally, it’s been incredibly rewarding. Helping others succeed, especially those who are new and trying to find their footing, has reinforced the value of service and community. It has made me more aware and more committed to being someone people can rely on. At the end of the day, it helped me grow into a leader by strengthening my skills as a connector.
What is one tip or best practice you would share with new Loudoun Chamber members to help them get the most value from their membership?
Get involved! You 100% get what you put into it!
What leadership skill has been most valuable to you in your role as a Chamber Ambassador, and how do you apply it?
One of the most valuable leadership skills for me has been active listening. In a networking environment, the real impact comes from slowing down and understanding the person in front of you.
As an Ambassador, I apply this by asking thoughtful questions and paying attention to what people are really trying to accomplish in their business. That allows me to make more meaningful introductions, connect them with the right people, and help them feel like they belong in the Chamber from day one. It turns networking from a transaction into a relationship—and that’s where the real value is.
How do you balance advocating for your own business while serving the broader mission of the Chamber and the Loudoun community?
I’ve found that the best way to grow my business is by focusing on serving others first. When I’m helping members make the right connections, sharing what I’ve learned, and supporting the Chamber’s mission, everything else tends to fall into place naturally.
As a life and health insurance broker, my business is built on trust, so I don’t approach networking with the goal of selling; I focus on building real relationships. By being consistent, showing up, and genuinely looking out for people’s best interests, opportunities come organically. It’s less about promoting myself and more about being a valuable resource, and that approach ends up benefiting both the community and my business at the same time.
What is one fun, unexpected, or little-known fact about you that most people at the Chamber may not know?
I used to travel throughout the United States as an Eastern European folk dancer, singer, and musician. The Tamburitzans are the longest-running multicultural performance group in the country.
