2021-22 YEA! Class Year COVID-19 Transmission Rules
The Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) will adopt the Loudoun County Public Schools’ (LCPS) mandate regarding the State Health Commissioner’s Order of Public Health Emergency Statewide Requirement to Wear Masks in K-12 Schools. Details of that mandate are detailed below.
YEA! Will continue to monitor updated guidance for COVID-19 prevention provided by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and state and local public health authorities. The CDC does recommend universal indoor face covering usage for all teachers, staff, students, and visitors in K-12 schools regardless of vaccination status.
FACE COVERINGS (MASKS)
Regardless of vaccination status, all YEA! students, instructors, guests, and others affiliated with the YEA! program are required to always wear face coverings, except as referenced in the “Exception” section. This includes all YEA! sponsored activities such as class while in the Mason Enterprise Center, all field trips, and all YEA! sponsored activities.
In addition to this facial covering mandate, students, instructors and other guests will always maintain a minimum three feet of separation, during all 2021-2022 YEA! Loudoun sanctioned activities.
Exception
Consistent with CDC and the VDH guidelines, students and others affiliated with YEA! will not be required to wear facial coverings while eating or drinking during class hours. Students may remove masks only while eating or drinking and must comply with the mask usage mandate at all other times.
Proper Wear
Disposable or cloth face coverings must be worn properly. The mask must cover the nose and mouth and be secured under the chin. It should fit snugly against the sides of the face with little to no gaps. Masks with an exhalation valve or vent, and gaiters are NOT APPROVED facial coverings for Loudoun YEA! activities.
OTHER MITIGATION MEASURES IN PLACE
Remain At Home When Ill
Per CDC guidance, all students, instructors, volunteers and others are asked to stay at home if they are feeling ill in any way, especially if they are experiencing symptoms of COVID.
Physical Distancing
Physical distancing will be enforced throughout all YEA! activities. Per the VDH guidelines for in indoor K-12 settings, a student within 3-6 feet of an infected student is not considered a close contact if both students are wearing masks and other prevention strategies are in place. YEA! will follow this guideline as well.
Enhanced Cleaning
Enhanced cleaning protocols will be deployed in the classroom at the Mason Enterprise Center (MEC), including disinfecting high touch surfaces prior to the students entering the classroom.
Personal Hygiene
Students will be encouraged to frequently wash their hands and use the alcohol-based hand sanitizer that the Loudoun Chamber will provide.
CLOSE CONTACTS and 14-DAY QUARANTINE
In general, VDH uses proximity of within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more within 24 hours to determine the need for quarantining after close contact to someone with suspected or confirmed COVID-19.
Any student who reports close contact with a COVID-19 infected individual will not be allowed to participate in in-person YEA! Activities until at least 10 days after contact, or if proof of a negative PCR COVID test, taken at least 24 hours after contact, is provided. Virtual instruction will be provided to student in quarantine.
