In 2008 a small group of local young professionals met together in the back room of Vintage 50 to discuss one thing: “What does Loudoun County need to do to attract and retain younger workers?”  After 45 minutes it became clear that there was no silver bullet.  But, what we did have was a small group of YPs eager to take on this mission.

Today, almost seven years later, this group is hundreds of young professionals strong, representing practically every industry and size of company in Loudoun.  Every month they meet together, learn together, and affect the future of Loudoun County through their involvement.

As a testament to the success of our young professionals and their aspirations, Loudoun County has been selected as the host site for the 2015 Virginia Young Professionals Summit on May 29th– 30th.  This Summit, created by Senator Mark Warner and steered by a team of local Loudoun businesses, is designed to connect Young Professionals from across the Commonwealth and increase their investment in their local communities.

As the Chair of our local committee, I couldn’t be more thrilled to be teaming with the Department of Economic Development, Visit Loudoun, GMU, GWU, Northern Virginia Community College, LoudounYP, and Senator Warner’s staff.

On top of the great speakers and panelists (see link below), the summit is 100% free to attend.  We as a community need everyone who is willing and able to participate in shaping the future to do so, and this Summit is no different.   We hope that you can join us, or consider inviting a member of your staff or business sphere.

Click here to register. I encourage you to consider being a part of this historical event in Loudoun County.
