ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Keith Troxell is a partner in the Leesburg law firm of Atwill, Troxell and Leigh, PC. Keith chairs the firm’s Business, Estate and Tax practice group. Admitted to the bars of Virginia and the District of Columbia, Keith’s primary focus is helping established business owners through the various stages of the business lifecycle. Practice areas include business acquisition, merger and expansion, equity-based incentive and ownership plans for employees, deferred compensation plans, business ownership and management succession planning, buy/sell agreements, development of business exit strategies for business owners, and representation of business owners in the sale of their business.
In addition, Keith helps small business owners and high net worth individuals with wealth planning through the use of sophisticated estate, gift, charitable and land succession planning techniques. Working closely with the real estate, litigation and family law teams of the firm, Keith also considers strategies to enhance asset value and reduce taxation and litigation risk as part of business succession planning and wealth preservation.
Prior to entering into private practice, Keith was a trial attorney with the Office of Chief Counsel of the Internal Revenue Service at the National Office in Washington, D.C. While at the IRS, Keith specialized in the income taxation of partnerships, S corporations and limited liability companies, as well as estate and gift taxation. After receiving his LL.M. (Masters in Tax Law) (graduating with distinction) from Georgetown University, Keith entered private practice forming the firm Troxell & Kincaid, P.L.C., which merged with the current firm of Atwill, Troxell & Leigh, P.C.
