The Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties’ Amy Owen, President and CEO, will present on the current state of local nonprofits as well as discuss ways for your clients to impact needs of today AND tomorrow through personalized legacy funds. The Community Foundation’s mission is to Grow Community Giving through local leadership, local assets, to meet local needs.
ABOUT THE PRESENTER:
Amy Owen and her spouse, Don, live near Unison, Virginia, Loudoun County. She graduated with a Bachelor’s of Science in Environmental Studies from the University of Alabama and received her Master’s Degree in Interpersonal Communications from West Virginia University.
The majority of her professional career has been in nonprofit management with interim teaching as an adjunct professor at Shepherd University.
For more than 10 years, she managed and directed fundraising programs for the Appalachian Trail Conservancy based in Harpers Ferry, WV. She served as a circuit rider to some 25 West Virginia community foundations supporting their emerging policy and fundraising efforts. She worked for a small family foundation before transitioning to the Eastern West Virginia Community Foundation in 2001.
In May 2012, she and Don moved to Loudoun County where she began serving as lead executive of the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties headquartered in Leesburg, VA.
The Community Foundation was named Nonprofit of the Year in 2017 by the Loudoun Chamber. Amy Owen was named Entrepreneur of the Year by the Loudoun Chamber in 2018.
She was a founding member of the Loudoun Estate Planning Council, and serves on the Board of the Loudoun Chamber of Commerce, Washington Regional Association of Grantmakers, and the County of Loudoun’s Human Services Strategic Planning Advisory Committee.
