ASHBURN, VA – Hidy Ochiai Karate – Northern Virginia is excited for their Grand Opening Open House at their new state-of-the art Karate school in Ashburn Virginia. The school is located in the recently built Ashburn Crossing development just south of One Loudoun by Redskins Park. Their new school is 5,500 square feet and is their flagship location for the Mid-Atlantic region. It is also the 2nd largest training facility solely dedicated to martial arts instruction in all of the Hidy Ochiai Karate schools across the nation.
The school includes beautifully designed locker rooms with showers, a vast viewing area, and a 3,000 square foot traditional wood training floor. It is interesting to note that this training floor was made with a special cutting-edge gym floor construction method, creating a surface that is ideal for martial arts classes and instruction.

“Sensei William Max Winkler, who owns the Ashburn Dojo states, “I am proud to bring an authentic Japanese Martial Art to Northern Virginia and honored to work and study under Master Ochiai. Our Grand Opening Celebration is a great opportunity to show off our gorgeous new dojo and what we offer through our classes for both children and adults. We welcome all members of the community to come and celebrate with us.”
World Famous, Master Ochiai will be in attendance both days and his newest book, “The Art and Theory of Self-Defense,” will be available for sale and signing on Friday and Saturday. Hidy Ochiai’s mastery of the martial arts has been featured on ABC’s Wide World of Sports, ESPN and frequently on the covers of top industry magazines, including Black Belt Magazine, Martial Arts Illustrated, and Martial Arts Professional. Master Hidy Ochiai brought Wa-shin Ryu Karate-do to this country in 1966. It is based on the principles of Budo (the martial way) – respect, honor, and self-development. For more than 50 years Master Ochiai has taken a holistic approach to martial arts practice that guides students to realize their potential. Hidy Ochiai’s highly acclaimed training/teaching model equally emphasizes the development of the mind and the body in a self-paced training program. In 1996, the New York State Education Department validated Ochiai’s Educational Karate Program (EKP) as an effective in-school curriculum to teach character education, safety awareness, and violence prevention strategies. EKP directly addresses problems of bullying and encourages cooperative and respectful learning environments (www.hidyochiai.org/educational-karate-program). Annual Real Estate Event
While Loudoun outperforms other Virginia counties on most economic measures, we still face many challenges to our future prosperity. Whether it’s our investment in Metro, a housing affordability crisis or attracting a millennial workforce, Loudoun’s challenges demand effective solutions.
On Monday, August 19, 2019, we hosted our 37th Annual Golf Classic event at the award-winning Jack Nicklaus Signature Golf course, The Club at Creighton Farms. This course is one of the finest on the Eastern Seaboard — is nothing short of spectacular. This event has been Loudoun County’s Premier business golf tournament for three decades.
For the past 8 years, this casual, networking tournament pairs you and a partner against a field of over 30 two-man teams in a progressive four month tournament. Designed with the busy professional in mind, each event consists of a 9-hole round after work, followed by a short networking reception to get you home in time to put the kids to bed. The team with the lowest cumulative score after four events is the champion. The 2019 Winners were Tom Reed and Greg Wells. Congratulations! Stay tuned for the 2020 Golf Tour dates.
Small Business Awards
Join us on November 8, 2019 for the Loudoun Small Business Awards, for our 25th Anniversary of these prestigious honors celebrating the best small businesses, entrepreneurs and nonprofit organizations in our Loudoun community. Winners will be announced in front of a live audience of more than 400 of Loudoun’s top business and community leaders.
Superhero 5k & Kids Fun Run
As a Signature Chamber event, the Superhero 5k Run and Kids Fun Run offers companies a great way to show Loudoun County their commitment to healthy living for your employees and our community.
The Loudoun Chamber will honor local heroes, from Public Safety personnel to ordinary citizens, for their courageous, often lifesaving actions in 2019 at the 34th Annual Valor Awards ceremony. The entire Loudoun County business community will be invited to attend these Annual Valor Awards to help honor these dedicated public servants for their selfless acts of heroism and commitment to protecting our families, our neighbors and our community!
