Loudoun Cares Announces Outstanding Volunteer Awards
Call for Nominations Open Through March 1, 2021
Virtual Awards Ceremony to be Held May 16, 2021 Streaming Online
Loudoun Cares announces an open call for nominations for its 4th annual Outstanding Volunteers Awards, recognizing residents who make a measurable difference in the lives of the people and nonprofit(s) they serve here in Loudoun County. Loudoun Cares is a Loudoun County non-profit focused on connecting those in need with those who serve through its ConnectLine and online Volunteer Center.
The awards are open to any individual county resident, team of residents, or business/community organization who have provided distinguished community service in 2020. Residents, organizations and companies are encouraged to nominate individuals or teams for one of the following awards:
- Outstanding Public Safety Volunteer (Adult, Senior, & Youth categories)
- Outstanding Individual Volunteer (Adult, Senior, & Youth categories)
- Outstanding Volunteer Team (Adult, Senior & Youth categories)
- Outstanding Community or Civic Organization
- Outstanding Corporate/Business Volunteer Team
- Outstanding Volunteer Team (no age restriction)
- Outstanding Project (one-time event or project)
- Outstanding Project Leader
- Outstanding Veteran Volunteer
- Outstanding Nonprofit Board (new this year!)
Loudoun Cares brings back the Judy Hines Lifetime of Service Award for individuals service Loudoun County 10+ years, as well as, the new RiseUP Award to recognize outstanding service during the COVID19 pandemic.

Award recipients will be honored at a ceremony to be held virtually on Sunday May 16, 2021 from 2:00pm to 4:00pm streaming live on the Loudoun Cares Facebook page. The event will be emceed by Tony Howard, CEO, Loudoun Chamber of Commerce. The event’s keynote speaker will be Phyllis Randall, chairwoman, Loudoun County Board of Supervisors.

Loudoun Cares is a Leesburg-based nonprofit serving the Loudoun community through its information & referral ConnectLine and online Volunteer Center. The ConnectLine specializes in connecting people in need with resources, information or referrals to local service and support providers. In 2020, the ConnectLine fielded more than 4,000 calls and connected more than 1,300 households with organizations that could help them through hardship. They partnered with Catholic Charities and created the COVID19 Relief Fund and Helpline that has helped to distribute over $1 mil in rental and utility assistance to Loudoun families. Loudoun Cares’ Volunteer Center is the county’s only online portal connecting volunteers with local nonprofits in need of support. In 2020, the Volunteer Center connected more than 1,700 volunteers to local nonprofits. The Center currently has over 230 nonprofits registered and receives between 80-100 new volunteer registrations each month.
