Spotlight on the Finalist: Ashburn Children’s Dentistry

Thanks to Lynda Dean-Duru, D.D.S. and owner of Ashburn Children’s Dentistry for answering a few questions with us!

Ashburn Children’s Dentistry – Lynda Dean-Duru, D.D.S.
Finalist for Service Business

1.  What would it mean to you and your company to win a Small Business Award?

It would be a great honor to us and our families to win a Small Business Award. It will be recognition of our passion and unyielding commitment to excellence in service to our patients and the community. As a young girl that grew up in Africa with a dream and faith in the greatness of America, the award will validate the hard work and desire to continually add value to our practice and service to the community by professional development, advanced technology, customized treatment options and total health dental care delivered in a warm, safe and caring environment with excellent results.

2.  What business person has influenced you the most?

The late Steve Jobs—-His ability to think outside the box, his tenacity and simplicity of purpose.

3.  If you weren’t running your own business, what would you be doing?

I have always believed that life is most exciting when it is lived in service to others. If I did not have my own business, I would be working with Bill and Melinda Gates’ Foundation being in service to people all over the world.

4.  What book are you reading right now?

Daniel Gilbert’s “Stumbling on Happiness”  and Malcolm Gladwell’s “Outliers”

5.  What is your favorite app?

Pinterest …. I like that you can share ideas and pins with other people.

6.  If you had a full 24 hours off, and your family was out of town, what would you do?

I would share 12 hours being at the Loudoun Women’s Shelter and the Breastfeeding/Milk share support group. The other 12 hours I would go shopping and get some sleep!

7.  What is the smallest thing that has had the largest impact on your business?

I think it is our sunny disposition.  In addition, our genuine compassion and belief that proactive preventive total health care with advanced technology is paramount to raising a generation of children who would have fun going to the dentist as they grow into adults has had a positive impact. That aligns with our vision of creating childhood memories into healthy lifestyles. Our favorite phrase is “Always smile, it’s who you are”!

Congratulations, Lynda on being a Service Business of the Year Finalist! Good Luck!
