Health Care Work Group

The Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce's Public Policy Committee has formed a Healthcare Work to enable members of the Policy Committee and the Chamber to have substantive, in-depth discussions about the range of healthcare issues impacting businesses in today's dynamic public policy environment. At this time, the work group is focused on the following initiatives:

  • Provide LCCC members with credible, non-partisan, fact-based information about federal healthcare reform with a particular focus on the impact on business;
  • Facilitate a discussion and provide information about innovative strategies to reduce the cost of healthcare and health insurance for businesses and business people – consider the various models and options for the delivery of healthcare and insurance, tax and financial options and the like for Chamber members to discuss and consider;
  • Facilitate a discussion, provide resource information and share success stories about how businesses of all shapes, sizes and types are implementing wellness and preventative healthcare programs at their businesses that are having a measurable impact on improving health and reducing costs;
  • Evaluate and consider policies and initiatives the promote transparency in the healthcare environment and enable businesses and employees to be better informed "consumers" with their healthcare dollars;
  • Provide LCCC members with updates and information about state-level policy activity and initiatives in the healthcare arena, to include updates on the efforts of the Virginia Healthcare Reform Initiative, the development of Virginia's health benefits exchange and the like, with a particular focus on activity that impacts businesses; and
  • Consideration of the development of a Healthy Business Challenge, potentially modeled after the Green Business Challenge, to create a competition to encourage our members and employers to promote healthy workplaces.
