The workshop asserts that human resources policies and procedures are important protectors of nonprofit assets. By knowing which policies provide both guidance and protection to mission vital brand reputation, participants will be able to prevent issues that arise because of these policies.
Attendees will gain:
  • Practical experience both preventing and addressing potential human resources-related leadership challenges
  • An understanding of why organizations must have written policies and procedures
  • Knowledge about mandatory and helpful employee-related policies and procedures
  • Practice in preventing and working through issues using policy as a guide

About the Speakers:

Sandra Marra, Marra Consulting Group, LLC

Sandra has more than 30 years of experience in leading organizations in both executive staff and board leadership roles. She is the founder and principal consultant with Marra Consulting Group, providing organizational, strategic and change management support to nonprofit boards and senior staff. Her experience includes Chief Operating Officer of an $20 million nonprofit organization supporting educational and service programs for developmentally disabled children and adults. She is also currently a volunteer Board Chair, leading a $10 million national member organization. She holds a Masters of Science degree in Personnel and Resource Management from The American University.

Leigh Shields, Principal, Leigh Shields & Associates

Leigh thrives on helping nonprofit leaders develop capabilities to unleash their full potential. As a leadership coach, Leigh combines curious empathy with thoughtful inquiry to help clients reach into themselves to breakthrough barriers. As a leadership development consultant, Leigh designs and facilitates varying types of learning forums depending on the needs of his clients.

About The Loudoun Nonprofit Academy
The Loudoun Nonprofit Academy is a training and certificate series in partnership with the Community Foundation for Loudoun and Northern Fauquier Counties and the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
Nonprofit Academy attendees that complete 40 hours of Academy training earn a “Certified Nonprofit Professionals” designation from the Loudoun County Chamber of Commerce.
