Behind the Business: Jamie Pearson, Middleburg Bank

Thank you to Jamie, former LoudounYP Chair, and current Non-Profit Initiative co-chair! We love having young professionals around the Chamber like yourself.

1.  What is your job title at Middleburg Bank and tell us a little bit about what you do?

I am a Business Banker where I specialize in commercial lending and banking services for small businesses. This includes business development, processing, analyzing, and approving new loans at a local level.

2.  How did you get to where you’re at today in your career?

One sunny day in June I was at the Bank and the teller supervisor asked me what I was planning to do for the summer. I said I was going to work at the local pool as I had in previous years. She asked me if I wanted a “real job” working at the bank to gain more business experience. I decided that it would be a great opportunity. Since I was 17 and still in high school, they hired me on a 6-month trial basis, and I have been there ever since. I worked part time during high school and while I attended George Mason University. I started full time after I graduated and moved to the Leesburg office. Middleburg Bank is great to work for because of the professional development you can gain, as well as the opportunity to grow and move into new positions all within the company.

3.  What is your favorite part about your job?

I am a people person, and I enjoy helping other succeed by assisting them in achieving their goals. Working in Loudoun County, I have the privilege in knowing and helping many great people and businesses.

4.  What is the hardest part about your job?

The hardest part about being at a bank for a long time is also kind of cool at the same time. Sometimes I see a client come in and I remember opening their Cool Fox kid’s savings account, and now they are all grown up and going off to college or are coming back to the bank for a mortgage or business loan. That makes me feel old!

5.  What is your favorite thing to do in your spare time?

I love to explore all of Loudoun County. I enjoy volunteering and supporting many local non-profit that make our community a better place. I am happy that I live and work here because there is such a wide array of things to do–golf courses, breweries, wineries and restaurants. It’s easy to stay busy.

6.  Where is your favorite place to go in Loudoun on the weekends?

Middleburg will always be my favorite place in Loudoun since I grew up there. There are so many great places and things to do.

7.  What is your favorite app?

Facebook!

8.  What is one thing that you’ve taken away from working at Middleburg Bank, a piece of wisdom we can all take away?

One of the great things about working for a local bank is having the opportunity to be involved first hand in the community. This local involvement is so important that part of our Mission Statement specifically talks about our “contributing to the welfare of our communities.”

Thanks so much Jamie!
